Celebrated on 4/08 of every year, San José Day is an outdoor cultural event that welcomes all to enjoy San José's diverse local live music, dance performances, poets, local artists and vendors, food, and a classic car show. By integrating a variety of San José artists and makers, this event platform fuels inspiration and collaboration across communities, creating a safe and culturally relevant environment. San José Day event preserves our existing culture and welcomes new and existing residents and visitors from outside the city to experience and be a part of San José. This is a free and family-friendly event.

A collective of San Jose native creatives produces SJD. We source all event programming through an open call to submission. An Arts and Culture Board made up of 8 diverse locals will review and select final applicants for event programming.

The Second Annual San Jose Day - Sunday, April 8, 2018

Celebrated at Breezy Excursion, we worked a selected group of artists that to represent and emulate the culture of San Jose in their own way. Our previous year allowed artists to openly submit art, whereas this year each artists was asked to create an original piece that represented what San Jose meant to them.

This year featured 30 visual artists, one MC, and a reveal of the “#DoItForSJ” documentary.

The First Annual San Jose Day - Saturday, April 8, 2017

Our first San Jose Day, also commonly called “408 Day”, was celebrated at Local Color in Downtown San Jose. Showcasing over 30 visual artists, five musical performers, and only a handful of vendors. The first San Jose Day was put together just short of 2 weeks, this was our first time throwing a show.

408 Day was inspired by the annual event, “415 Day” put together by San Francisco Rapper, Equipto.
